Tips for Taking Care of Your Eyelash Extensions

Now that the pandemic is almost behind us, we can finally go out, meet our friends and glam up for no particular occasion. You can wake up every morning with gorgeous dark lashes ready to go out and paint the town red without so much effort. With eyelash extensions from Amazing Lash Studio, this is possible.

Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent lashes glued to your own in order to make them look more defined and dramatic. There are different types of eyelash extensions you can choose from, but the two main options are:

  • Classic – This eyelash extension is thick and great for your everyday look.
  • Russian – You can add these ultra fine fake lashes to each natural lash so you can have a more natural look.

Eyelash extensions last between 3-6 weeks. You need to take good care of them so they last longer and you get your money’s worth. Speaking of cost, these fake lashes can be as cheap as $15 or as high as $300 depending on the type of eyelash extensions you get as well as where you get them.

Here are a few important things to know before you decide to get eyelash extensions:

1. You can’t wet them for at least 24 hours.

The glue needs time to set which means you should not get your lashes wet for at least 24 hours. Don’t go to a sauna or exercise, and don’t wash your face. You can use baby wipes or makeup remover to clean your face instead, and stay away from the eye area.

2. They need to be brushed everyday.

Your eyelash technician should give you a special brush that will be used to comb your lash extensions to keep them lush and to prevent them from getting tangled.

3. Avoid oil-based products.

When caring for your extensions you should stay away from oil-based products, as these things can break down the glue that keep the lashes in place. Don’t use skin care and makeup products that are oil-based.

4. Use an eyelash cleaner.

If possible, use a specific eyelash shampoo 2-3x a week to keep your lashes moisturized and clean.

5. You need to get them refreshed every couple of weeks.

Eyelash extensions require maintenance if you want them to continue to look great. That means going to the salon every 2-3 weeks to get them refilled. Don’t worry, it’ll only take 15 minutes or so.

6. Don’t rub your eyes.

Rubbing your eyes will cause the lashes to fall off so don’t be tempted to do so. You should also avoid pulling them out as this can damage your natural lashes.

7. Wear sunglasses outside.

This is especially important if the weather’s hot because lashes can fall out a lot quicker when exposed to hot temperature. Protect them from damage by wearing sunglasses.

8. You need to take breaks.

It’s nice to have great looking lashes all year round but you also need to give them a break every once in a while. Just a few weeks off a year should be enough.
