Natural Hair Straighteners

People with straight hair want to have curls and people with curly hair want to have them straightened. These are just some of the things that we can do to re-invent ourselves and keep life exciting.

Here are some ideas on how you can straighten your hair at home using natural ingredients.

 

1. Celery Leaves

  • celery-leavesPlace chopped celery leaves and a few amounts of water in a juicer to extract its juice
  • Strain the juice with a muslin cloth
  • Place the juice in a spray bottle and set it aside for two days
  • After the second day, you can spray the juice over your hair
  • To help spread the juice throughout your hair, comb with a wide-tooth comb
  • Massage and spread the juice all through your hair and then cover your hair with a shower cap
  • Leave it on for thirty minutes
  • After thirty minutes, wash your hair with mild shampoo and conditioner.

2. Castor Oil

  • Mix two tablespoons of castor oil and one tablespoon of soybean oil
  • Place the mixture in the microwave and warm for twenty seconds
  • Apply the mixture on your hair and scalp and massage for a few minutes
  • Leave the mixture on for thirty minutes
  • While it is still wet, comb your hair to straighten while allowing it to air dry

3. Natural Oils

  • Slightly heat coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil or sesame oil in a microwave for twenty seconds
  • Apply the warm oil to your hair and massage for fifteen to twenty minutes
  • Comb your hair thoroughly to evenly distribute the oil
  • Cover your hair with a hot towel and leave it on for thirty to forty minutes
  • After forty minutes, wash your hair with mild shampoo and conditioner
  • Comb your hair to dry with the use of a wide-tooth comb

4. Coconut Milk

  • coconut-milkMix one cup of fresh coconut milk and fresh lemon juice
  • Place the mixture in a jar and refrigerate for a few hours until you see creamy layers forming at the top of the mixture
  • Apply the cream to your hair and massage for a few minutes
  • After massaging leave it on for twenty minutes
  • Put on a shower cap and wrap a warm towel around your head
  • Leave it on for thirty minutes before shampooing
  • Comb your hair with a wide-tooth comb and allow it to air dry.

5. Beer

  • Boil one cup of beer in a pan over medium heat until it reduces to half
  • Allow it to cool and then mix it with a cup of your regular shampoo
  • Wash your hair with this homemade beer shampoo
  • Alternatively, simply use flat beer as your final rinse after shampooing your hair

6. Apple Cider Vinegar

  • Mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and one cup of water
  • Use this mixture as your final rinse after shampooing your hair
  • Leave the rinse on hour hair, comb with a wide-tooth comb and allow to air dry

7. Milk

  • Mix one-half cup each of milk and water
  • Store the mixture in a spray bottle.
  • Comb out any tangles in your hair and spray the mixture over your hair
  • Leave it on for thirty minutes so that the milk is absorbed by your hair
  • After thirty minutes, wash your hair with mild shampoo and conditioner
  • Mix one tablespoon of honey and one cup of milk
  • Mash up three to four strawberries and add them to the mixture
  • Apply this mixture to your hair thoroughly and wrap your hair in a towel for about two hours
  • After six hours, wash your hair with a mild shampoo
  • Comb your hair using a wide-toothed comb and let your hair to air dry

8. Olive oil and Eggs

  • Beat two eggs and mix it with four tablespoons of olive oil
  • Apply the mixture to your scalp and comb your hair with a wide-tooth comb
  • Wear a shower cap and leave it on for thirty minutes
  • After thirty minutes, wash of the mixture with a mild shampoo

9. Fuller’s Earth

  • Mix one cup fuller’s earth, one egg white and two tablespoons of rice flour
  • Add water to the mixture until you get a thin texture
  • Apply the mixture to your hair and comb with a wide=tooth comb
  • Leave it on for an hour before washing it off with water
  • Spray milk on your hair
  • Leave the milk on for fifteen minutes before shampooing and conditioning your hair

10. Aloe Vera

  • Mix one-half cup of aloe vera gel and one=half cup of olive oil
  • Mix in six drops of rosemary oil and six drops of sandalwood oil
  • Apply the mixture to your hair and massage
  • Cover your hair with a shower cap and leave it on for two hours
  • After two hours, rinse it off and wash your hair with mild shampoo

These natural formulations and mixtures have been proven effective in providing softer and straighter hair but, for a more hair relaxing experience, there is no reason why you can’t treat yourself to a nice soothing afternoon at your favorite hail salon where you can have your straightened hair styled for a totally new look.
